Mrs. Betty Jean Stegall was born July 12, 1952 to Grace Cruise Pegues and Robert Stegall in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. Mrs. Stegall departed this life for her heavenly home on February 19, 2020 at the Pontotoc Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Betty was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was a beloved person, and was known to have fed “everyone in Pontotoc” with her delicious cooking. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her family and many friends.
Mrs. Betty is preceded in death by her father Robert Stegall, step father Hubert Pegues, three sisters: Birdie Green, Betty Jean Stegall, and Madeleane Meaders, and two brothers: Jackie Cruise and Curt Stegall.
Mrs. Betty leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Grace Pegues of Pontotoc, MS, her husband Billy Joe Rogers of New Albany, MS, one daughter Linda Humphrey Hampton (Tyrone) of Pontotoc, MS, two sons: Michael Humphrey (Cassandra) of Saltillo, MS and Lee Jr. Humphrey (Tesha) of Tupelo, MS, two step daughters: Nicole Gates of Tupelo, MS and Tina Alexander of Corinth, MS, two step sons: B.J. Gates (Chelsy) of Tupelo, MS and Timothy Berry of New Albany, MS, three grandchildren: Carlisa Stinson, Quiera Jones, and Chanse Cummings all of Pontotoc, MS, eleven additional step grandchildren, four great grandchildren: Sa’nyla Strong, Khyza Strong, Kylionna Cummings, and Carson Cummings all of Pontotoc, MS, one sister Bessie Stephens of Tupelo, MS, three brothers: Tommie Pegues (Dorothy) of Tupelo, MS, Grady Stegall of Tupelo, MS, and Hubert Pegues, Jr. of Pontotoc, MS, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 1 PM - 6 PM, with family hour from 5-6 PM, at Payton Mortuary. Funeral service will be Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 2 PM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Pontotoc, MS. Viewing will be available one hour before service at the church.
